The purple dragon symbolizes the DODs Operations Security (OPSEC) program. The dragon is often seeing protecting treasure signifying our nations secrets. This symbol was brought to life during the Vietnam war when many operations were foiled due to loose lips of military members. But after Project Purple Dragon the idea of keeping our nations secrets under wraps became a more utilized strategy. The program was a success to the point that it’s still used today!
